Keeping you fresh faced and event ready

As the warm weather rolls in, so too do the many party invites and end of year functions with the impending holiday season. It's no doubt a busy time, so all the more reason to keep up your skincare routine.

We all know that we should take our make-up off before bed…but why? Dr Jacqueline Matulich, QV Consultant and Dermatologist at Platinum Dermatology, provides her expertise as to why this simple rule can help your skin in a big way.

As your skin restores and regenerates overnight, it's important to hit the pillow with a fresh face. Any make-up left on can clog pores and increase the chance of irritation and potentially lead to problem skin.

Jacqueline has identified simple skincare tips to care for and keep your skin looking refreshed all party season long.

Hydration Salutation

It is best to optimise your appearance and the health of your skin by preparing it and generating resilience before the calendar of party season events begin. Remember to stay well hydrated with your daily water intake in the lead up to events for your overall wellbeing, as this will reflect well in your skin.

When you're not attending events, where possible, try and eat a well-balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as seafood and some red meat to support iron levels and keep energy up. Avoid too many carbohydrates or sugar as they can weigh heavily on your skin, causing breakouts at the very time you want spotless skin.

The many events and gatherings during the holiday season can take a toll on our skin.

Make-Up Free Method

While sleeping, this is the optimum time for skin to renew and rejuvenate overnight. On nights when you need to hit the hay quickly and choose to forgo make-up wipes, know that this can interfere in the regeneration process and lead to clogged pores. A quick swipe of QV Face Cleansing Wipes before bed can assist with exfoliation to lift off oil, dirt and residue from the day to help uncover smoother, glowing skin.

Helpful Hint: Next time you head out for an event, leave the QV Face Cleansing Wipes by your bedside table to remind you to remove your make-up before bed. This will allow you to wake up with skin that feels both clean and refreshed.

Exfoliation Essentials

The many events and gatherings during the holiday season can take a toll on our skin but the regular use of an exfoliating cleanser twice daily can help maintain optimal skin function during this busy period. The act of exfoliating helps to lift off oil, dirt, residue and unclog pores as well as help to remove dead skin cells to reveal smoother looking, glowing skin. Exfoliating with the QV Face Exfoliating Polish, which contains Vitamin E to help increase hydration of the skin, Glycerin to help maintain the skin's epidermal barrier and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) to help replenish the skin's natural barrier function can help to gently remove impurities and dead skin cells from the outer layers which will refresh the skin and help put your best face forward ahead of any big event.

Getting the Natural Glow

Regular exercise is important to maintain the health of our mind and body as well as help achieve radiant, glowing skin. Before exercising, be sure to remove any make-up. When you exercise, the sweat can combine with oil and make-up which can clog pores and lead to problem skin. Start your workout with a clean slate; use the QV Face Cleansing Wipes to quickly and effectively remove make-up and oil, leaving the skin cleansed and lightly moisturised ahead of your workout.

If you're going to be exercising outdoors, use a light, oil-free moisturiser with sunscreen like QV Face Moisturising Day Cream SPF 30 to help protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays without further blocking your pores.

All of these simple skincare tips can assist you to keep your pores unclogged and your skin feeling rejuvenated all party season long. Always read the label and use products only as directed
